I saw at another forum the same problem and the solution was improper sheilding. Is there something wiring related that would cause a usb 2.0 device to fail and a usb 1.1 device to work? I plugged that into the same mobo header, and the USB 2.0 key worked fine!. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that there were three grounds present, and only two required.

So it seems that they are dropping this ground out. sometimes... The last pin on the mobo was a NC (mobo is an ASUS A7N8X-E Delux).
