I have been struggling with this issue for weeks, finally giving up with a work around (crappy old Dell USB keyboard). First, in later-model keyboards and computers, Apple has delayed the activation of both the Caps Lock and Eject buttons to prevent accidental activation so that quick taps wont activate the keys. I'm guessing that there is still water in it. Then set it aside for a few days to dry. Nothing fixed the issue.

I´ve been struggling with this for months, and spent hours looking for a solution. That's a separate issue. In some cases this can be attributed to faulty keyboard PRAM settings, but in other instances USB ports can stop working, which may be the result of faulty SMC settings. We also boast an active community focused on purchasing decisions and technical aspects of the iPhone, iPod, iPad, and Mac platforms.
Added an extension and now works everywhere… Thanks, but apple should definitely look at this. Still a part of me likes to know why this issue isn't solved yet by Apple. You can see your keyboard's current layout on your Mac's display to make sure you're using the correct layout: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Keyboard, then select "Show Keyboard, Published on Mar 27, 2012Had a few Apple keyboards with several keys that no longer functioned.
