Bopper, If you want to trace out the warmers with a meter to figure out where the break is, think of your hand warmer as a lightbulb, or rather a dual ALBERTA S.E. I finally changed some setting and then it read right. It's my son's sled , he has good gloves , and the warmers were not heating up.
I suck balls with a multimeter. They work real good too. Power goes through one wire and resistance in the coil creates heat and the power travels back through a ground wire. When you put it on low, only the left side heats up, they have never both worked at the same time. They didn't even bother testing them before giving it back to me and sure enough the same thing happened lol. The problem I am having is with the hand warmers on our 1994 440 Cougar, neither work.

I changed 1 warmer mid season last year, by the end of the season the other warmer failed. http://www.ebay.com/bhp/arctic-cat-hand-warmers No where near 12 volts, I have another machine a 1994 EXT which is very similar only the hand warmers work, checked the voltage on this one and it doesn't show

I think when I was asking this question last year I was told Cat had an issue with hand warmers in that year and I am beginning to believe they did.

they are just a big resistor that generates heat. For some reason i dont think its getting power to the warmers. I would think its a resistor or something like that that needs to be replaced, or maybe a short in the wires. But a lot of sleds run power from the lighting coil unregulated to the hand warmers, but run regulated power to the thumb warmer so it doesn't melt the plastic throttle Ground?
